Responding to feedback to her latest sculpture, Staffordshire-based sculptor, Gillie Nicholls has added colour to a portrait for the first time. Prompted by the inclusion of grand-daughter Liv's self portrait on the sculpture's t-shirt, viewers commented that it would have been nice to see the drawing reproduced in full colour. So, Gillie has experimented with fired-in ceramic clouds to produce the finished result shown here.
Whilst the reviews from peers and the general public are important to her, Gillie gave the greatest importance to the approval of Liv herself. Thankfully, she loves it. The work will be on display during Gillie's one house exhibition which starts soon. See details
